I think this will be a collaboration of things that happened in recent years. I was just too busy to even have some time to right a diary.
So here it goes.

Now I come to think about it, it was a very long war. I am actually glad that it is finally over and that the whole family can be together again. Thankfully my two nephews at the battlefield, Daiki and Sora, are all alive. My battalion, what originally started as 500 now is about 120. I tried my best to set priority on survival of my men, but some of these undesirable, impossible missions were just making me speechless. We had the worst mission near Vietnam. Having been bombed at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the mental states of soldiers were terrible. Not only I myself was worried about my family, but also they were worried about their family and friends. As I am from Hiroshima, many of my men were from Hiroshima too. How devastated they looked! After all these fighting, they’ve lost the place to return to.

Anyways, at Vietnam, which was a very unique place, we easily took over the rubber plantations. I saw a French woman quickly fleeing from her plantations as we attacked it. However, the trip to Vietnam itself was harsh. I think we lost more men during the journey then during the actual battle.

Then I heard the news that we have surrendered. I couldn’t believe it. All our efforts turned out be nothing. My men had died for no reason. What was all this for? Now, as I am on my way back to Japan, I don’t think I want to join the army again.
